awkward v-day

This is me pretending to love love love the snow today. I only put this one up because the one of me frowning is horrid. I don't love love love the snow today, especially after the storm we were hit with last night and this morning.
Here are some pictures of our snow storm aftermath:

My valentine snow blowing (this picture actually was taken, oh, 100 snow storms ago). He got up super early to snow blow the driveway because if he hadn't I wouldn't have been able to pull my car out because the snow bank (helped along by the wind) went up to the bottom of my back window.

The snow in our backyard--lovely.

A view of our front yard snow bank that looks kind of like a wave in the ocean; cool in a sick, winter kind of way.

Junior high kids are crazy. They're hormonal, worried about their hair, and awkward in so many ways. Add to that a celebration we crazy humans like to call Valentine's day and that junior high craziness is multiplied. What my junior high students don't need is a day to pretend to be in love by giving each other stuffed bears and chocolate roses. A day where they have to have someone to walk them down the hall with their arms around them in a awkward-uncomfortable-to-look-at kind of way. A day where "who like's who" is the most popular question. Junior high kids just don't need a Valentine's day because it makes them do crazier things than normal.

And so I say that my day at work was just crazy.

And awkward.

Because apparently one of my students has a crush on me. And he gave me chocolates (which I ate out of desperation during lunch), a stuffed dog and a corny card.

And then other students teased me about it all day. Not him. Me.

And he's getting transfered out of my class ASAP.

On a positive note, I'm going to see a movie with my two teacher friends and some of their friends tonight and I'm thrilled at the idea. You see, Ben has to work (again). He worked on our anniversary, too. And quite frankly, I'm sick of being home alone at night. So I'm going out to enjoy some girl friend fun.

Love to all.
