it's all relative

In case any of you were sitting on the edge of your seats to find out what a relative pronoun is (I think my only regular reader, my dad, was the only one who showed a slight interest, but even he admitted to not really caring...hahaha!) I decided to bring you all out of the dark before I hop into bed.

A relative pronoun, class, is a pronoun that connects to clauses (er, two parts of a sentence.)
For example:
Here is the hamburger that you ordered. (That is the relative pronoun)
She likes the teacher who is in that classroom. (who is the rp.)
Relative pronouns are the words: who, whom, whose, that, which, etc. Not too terribly exciting (my students can attest to that one...) but none the less, it's on the dang CRT's so I gotta teach it.

Tomorrow is the multi-cultural assembly. Yay. Really. I've kind of gotten over the whole assembly thing because they really just add extra chaos to the mixture of already chaotic teens. It should be more entertaining than the sad, sad, pathetic talent show with all the hip grinding dance moves. I hear there will be a traditional Polynesian fire dance as well as other cultural talents showcased.

I finish up the whole exciting relative pronoun thing and move onto capitalizing books, poems, and course titles. Note to self: teach the grammar and punctuation sporadically throughout the year rather than save it to teach the weeks before CRT's. Teaching is getting very boring. I'm really stretching my brain to think of exciting ways to teach boring things.

Well, I contemplated calling in for a sub for tomorrow. The whole cold thing hasn't gone away yet and today I just felt miserable. But, I had a good veg night and feel much better so I'll be at school tomorrow. I think I'll have the nagging cough for a few more days but hopefully it doesn't turn into bronchitis, like a cold did to a fellow first year teacher. I've done better than I thought, however, with illnesses this year. During college I was always sick with something, but teaching involves a lot more germs and I've managed to steer clear of them for the most part.

My bed beckons. Nighty.

Lou... relative pronouns are important, but gosh, just saying their name sounds boring, eh? :) I love your blog! It cracks me up! Hope you get feeling better soon!
