day off

Well, I went out to eat yesterday afternoon with all of the other "provisional teachers." Provisional means we are in our first three years of teaching in the Granite School District and we have to meet once a month as a group with our mentor. We decided last month to have our last meeting be a going out to dinner thing. We all met at Costa Vida right after school, ate, conversed, and had a really swell time. I ordered a shredded beef salad with cilantro dressing. It was tasty! When I got home from eating, Ben and I decided that we'd wait a bit to cook dinner. I eventually ended up making a yummy meat loaf and we ate as we watched the tragedy that is American Idol, season 6. I went to bed, planning on riding my bike to school today and getting one step closer to the end of the year. Now, looking back on my food choices of the day, I'm not sure which one I will have to from here on out banish from my repertoire of faves.

I woke up with a tummy ache, just kind of mumbling. I kind of felt sick, but decided to head off to school in my car instead of the bike. I felt a wave a nausea on my way and knew I would be throwing up any minute. When I walked into school, I smelt that faint junior high teenage boy oder that is called AXE body spray and about lost the contents of my stomach right then and there, but luckily I made it to the faculty bathroom in the front office, first. I felt mucho better after my little gastric intestinal pyro-technics, and made my way to my room. Upon getting to my room (it's a long walk from the office) I got another wave of nausea and ran down to the girls bathroom. The sight of the girls bathroom made me throw up even more, and I felt quite embarrassed because several students were in there at the time.

I decided to walk up to the office to see if they had any available subs. The secretary over heard me talking to one of the counselors about the matter, and handed me a list of possible options. I called 4 of them before school started and none of them were available. I barely made it through advisory without puking some more. After advisory, I walked back to the office to see about a sub and the secretary, bless her heart, had called in the sub job for me and told me to just go home, and that if a sub never showed, they'd find a way to cover for me. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I packed my bag, gave 1st period quick instructions, and got a few sympathy well wishes from the students, then drove home. I walked in my door at 8:45, threw up once again, and have been sleeping the rest of the day. Right now I feel great. I've been able to keep down a sandwich, some popcorn, and sprite without pain. Not to go too far into the gory details, but I think I made the conclusion that Costa Vida is what I'll be cutting out of my diet.

Just checked my school e-mail; a lot happened today! One of the emails was from my yearbook rep, who was letting me know that he'd be delivering my yearbooks on Monday at 10. Yikes!

Gotta go get ready for my primary presidency meeting...hopefully I'll make it through tomorrow without any ickyness.
