Even after my 3 day work week, I'm super glad it is Friday.
Much has transpired since my last post, the 26th of October. I had a pretty good UEA break. I didn't go on vacation anywhere, but it was relaxing not to worry about school for a few days. I spent some much needed time with my husband and also hung out with my mom. It was also fun because on Tuesday, the last day of the break, I spent the day with my best pal, Sadie, and we had a great time.
Monday night I went to a Halloween party at Grandma Bessie's work. I went with bro-in-law Jaren because Ben was working. Jaren was Peter Pan so I dressed up as Wendy Darling. Our little cousin, Savannah, was Tinker Bell. No one really knew who I was (because I was just wearing a nightgown )unless I was with Jaren, but it was still fun.
I got a good dose of sugar at that party, as well as eating a hotdog. Something I ate that night made me sick, however, and I was up every two hours throwing up beginning on 4:30. Luckily it didn't last longer than 8am.
Halloween Day in a junior high is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. No costumes to be seen, but there is a definite vibe that exudes from the teenagers. This year was no exception. First off, they were anxious for Trick-or-Treating. Many in 1st period spent much of the 45 minutes discussing the best houses to beg for candy. Most of my 8th grade classes could hardly be contained because they were just too darned excited to get out of school and go run amok on the streets of WVC. I had several students approach me and say, with open arms, "Trick-or-Treat," and then when I didn't get them candy it was as if I had just given them a death sentence. Then, in 6th period, a bunch of boys encouraged me to get a substitute for Thursday because they'd all be hyper. Thursday came and went with vast amounts of hyperness and wrappers from candy on the floor. I did get a few good things out of the deal; several students brought me candy (mostly their rejects) that I stashed away in my desk for use at a later date when I really need the sugar.
Halloween at my house was...not really at my house. I went to my mom's house after ESL class and had dinner with my Zach, Hil, Cassidy, grandma Ella and Suzette. We had an enjoyable time being entertained by Tiger Lilly (Cassidy) and enjoyed good food. It took approximately 14 other pictures before this was taken in order to a semi-decent one of her looking at the camera AND smiling.
Here's a video from the evening. This is of Cassidy singing the ever popular "One-Eyed-One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater while playing the piano:
And another of her dancing her Halloween Dance in my mom's kitchen:
Today we had a party in 4th period because they had the highest class average at the end of 1st quarter--an 81%, which is the best I've ever had in any of my classes. I bought cookies and punch. The cookies were a hit, but the punch ended up mostly all over the floor and the desks. I'm not sure it was wise on my part to bring fruit punch as one of the choices, but it was still a fun time. There were very few kids who thanked me for the treats and most were quite greedy with their cooking eating, but what can you do?
There was a shooting at the dry cleaners just up the street from the school today. Here's the story on KSL. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=2080584
We didn't have to lockdown or anything, but it was still all over because of the helicopters and nearness of the event. It was said in faculty meeting after school that a shooting is bound to someday affect our school. Great.
Well, after this long post, I'm fairly hungry. I've got tonight to relax a bit and then busy again tomorrow with Primary stuff. Happy Weekend!

Sounds like you had a fun, but busy Halloween! You looked like a GREAT Wendy! Glad school is going well and that you guys weren't hurt in the shooting!
Thanks for the cute pictures of Cassidy and you!! Our department at work used to go all out for Halloween but hardly anyone dressed up this year. I wore my old Superman sweatshirt and went as the old, fat Superman! I was suprised that school didn't have dressups. that was a huge deal when you were in school, wasn't it?
you're tagged...check out my blog. you don't have to do it if you don't want to though. no pressure........ :) :) :)
