the final move

Today was memorable. I got the real boot and was relocated to my new office space, shown above. My desk occupies what is known as the English lab, which holds all of our department's books. ALL of them. I would guess the whole room is no more than 7 feet wide and perhaps 50 feet long. And so I feel like I'm prison. But it sure is quiet! A few students and the tech guy came in during 7th to literally pick my desk up as-is and relocate it here. I had several teachers come in after school to use the phone in the lab and they sympathized that it was now my home base.

I had a special treat today because I only had to teach for half of the day. The mentors at the school (the higher-ups meant to watch over us newbies) decided that the newbies needed a break and a chance to work in our rooms. So, I sent my 6th and 7th periods to the auditorium while I was able to work away in my old room, finally finishing up packing and organizing stuff. It was a nice break and it was especially nifty to not have to face the two most difficult classes of the day! I got caught up on filing and organizing, grades, and cleaning out my desk. (Even though I've only been there for 2 years, it was plenty full of junk!)

Ben and I had a fun President's Day Weekend. Saturday night we went to dinner and bowling with lil' bro J-Dawg and his cute girlfriend. It was so much fun. Even though Ben's a dork when we take pictures, here's us at the restaurant.Monday I spent the day with my mom and good friend Sadie and her mom. We ate at Paradise Bakery, the new best place to eat. We were there for nearly 2 hours eating and talking. Sadie and her husband are expecting their first baby in August. I'm SUPER excited for her. (For those of you who don't know Sadie, we've been friends literally since birth). They will be the BEST parents.

Also on Monday my family went to dinner with Eric and Heather, who were driving through on their way back from Nevada. It was Heather's birthday and we all met at The Outback. Yum! It's always good to see them since we hardly ever do.

Tuesday was back to the real world, i.e. work. It was actually a pretty decent day, considering. I dyed my hair over the weekend and that seemed to be the biggest topic of discussion for my students: "Why did you do that, Mrs. Hubert?" "Did you dye your hair?" I told some of them that I didn't know I needed their permission first. Ha.

I'm currently working from my awesome new computer that my dad gave me. It's sweet and almost too fast! Thanks again, daddy-o!

It's just me and Zeus hanging out tonight. He's just about passed out for the night on the couch, his favorite chill spot. I'm boycotting American Idol for a few weeks because these two hour shows are entirely too boring. However, I do know that I like the boy from Australia and mormon girl from Arizona.

Lauren, I like the hair! I need to do something to mine...
So, I have a message on my phone from Sadie that I haven't listened to yet...but now I know what it says!! That is funny, I was totally guessing a baby was on the way. I'm excited for them.
I'm sorry you have to live off of a cart. I was in a portable and I HATED it! I can't even imagine a cart...you are a good sport.
