I feel horrible. Awful. I should be punished.
Yesterday I rode my bike to work. It was a great day for a ride and I even cut my normal 30 minute trip home to a 20 minute trip home. It's pretty much all down hill on the way in the morning and it still gets kind of chilly. On the way home, however, it was pretty dang hot!
On my way home I was being silly and decided to try to run over random objects on the ground: cigarette butts, pieces of wood, plastic bottles and other junk. I also, completely on accident, ran over a butterfly who just happened to be chillin' in my path.
What happened was I saw this bright orange thing that looked like a wad of gum or candy or something. I decided I'd run it over just because and when I got just too close, I realized it was moving. It was flapping it's wings, I decided later. I ran it over as I realized it was living and I stopped and turned around to see. Yup. It was smooshed. Flat. I felt so bad.
There are now 13 days left of school. We finished up the poetry stuff this week and I'm thinking the kids aren't the only ones who are glad that is over. This week they will be creating an ABC book about their 8th grade year. And they're going to hate hate hate me when they realize they'll be writing more! Ha.
I gave my journalism/media production students a final project this week where they are creating a Year-in-Review magazine highlighting events of this year. I had 10 of my 19 journalism students flat out tell me they were not going to do the assignment. I made those students sign a paper saying that they chose not to do the assignment and that they understand it will affect their grade. Unfortunately a lot of my students, both grade, have just given up and refuse to work. I will be sending out failing notices next week. I think there's going to be a whole bunch.
The yearbook will be delivered on Wednesday. I'm nervous to see the final product. Yearbook day is on the 30th and from what I heard, we've sold a lot of books so far.
Ben took me to see "Chronicle of Narnia:Prince Caspian" last night after we went to dinner at Johnny Corinos. I saw about the first five minutes of the movie and then I fell asleep, so I couldn't tell you if it was good or not. I need to learn that I can't go see movies after 10pm. So if you go see that movie, let me know how it is!!

Don't worry about the butterfly...there's a natural order to things that take that into consideration.
I didn't see the first "Narnia" movie so this one didn't appeal to me, but I barely last through 90 minute movies. Although I do want to go see the new Indiana Jones this week.
That's too bad that your students just give up, but I guess that' also the natural order of things. Love ya
