I'm writing in PURPLE tonight because it matches the outfit I've chosen to wear on the very first day of my teaching career. That'd be tomorrow.
Yes, I'm nervous. Yes, I'm ready--I think. Yes, I'll be glad when tomorrow is over.
I spent all week last week getting my room ready and preparing for this first week. I have all my copies made. I've laminated a bunch of motivational posters to hang in my room. I even have on my desk (my desk) a pretty red pot with a stalk of Lucky Bamboo, given to me by my supportive husband. The sign above the door says Mrs. Hubert.
A clipboard on my desk has 8 attendance rolls for 8 classes, all with foreign names of students I don't know yet. There's a box of unsharpened pencils (a gift from my dad) waiting to be borrowed, chewed, and left on the ground. I have three old metal garbage cans with years worth of old gum stuck to the sides strategically placed around my room.
My mom has given me strict instructions to call her immediately after I leave school. My grandma, bless her heart, spent the last three weeks gathering colored folders for each of my students and refuses reimbursement for the cost. My dad sent me a big box of school supplies, which totally made my day. And, lastly, I feel 100% support from Ben, who has promised to be understanding when I come home cranky and tired after a long day.
Yes, I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be. If I make through tomorrow, I'll be sure to post and let everyone know how it goes.
Signing off,
Mrs. Hubert

I'm still waiting to hear how your first day went and now your second. I hope you enjoy teaching as much as I did. I'm sure your students will love and admire you - just make sure you always show them who is in charge. I know you'll do great!!
Love ya, "Aunt" Linda
