sharpener woe

Once again, I'm beat on a Friday. The students took a vocabulary quiz today which gave me some down time to get random stuff done in my room. I made a very cool bulletin board (I finally got the obscene World Map taken down so I had one extra bulletin board). I put on a white background and then had squares of black paper to make it look like a checkerboard. I used it to put a "News Traits" poster on and will be adding interesting stuff I find in the news.

My pencil sharpener broke today. It's the mechanical one my dad sent and it worked very good up until today. I generally have a rule that they can't sharpen their pencil while I'm talking, but mostly it's just me saying a few words in edge wise in between their sharpening. Today during 4th period I had a boy up to the sharpener during the test. It always has sounded kind of like a car motor but today it kind of had a sick car motor sound and while his pencil was in the little hole, it freaked out and stopped. It probably doesn't help that the little dears put other objects besides pencils in the little hole (pens, eraser ends, paper, pencils with staples). It was quite the drama in all the other classes when the only sharpener they could use was the crappy one screwed to the wall.

I don't really have much to write about today--my brain is FRIED! I might go do a little Christmas shopping tonight with my mom. Mostly, though, I just want to sit and rest for a bit.
