The school is abustle with excitement as the last day of school looms on the horizon. I'm not sure who's more enthralled at the idea; the students or teachers. It seems like everyone is just ready for it to be over. Although, I will admit, the end-of-year excitement has bit me, too.
Since my last post, I received something very exciting in the mail. The very exciting thing is the yearbook!
Here is it, in all it's bright-colored splendor. My very creative students designed the cover, of which you are gazing upon at this moment. The back, of which I did not take a picture, is plain back with our 2006-2007 journalism symbol (a circle swirly) near the bottom, along with our theme: Life's to Short to be Ordinary.

My journalism students spent all day yesterday pouring over their masterpiece, and all-in-all, they were very impressed with the outcome of their (of Mrs. Hubert's hard work) hard work. We found a few mistakes, but granted, ones that only we'll notice (different fonts on the page numbers). One uber cool feature of our yearbook is the page that says 07 in block lettering and inside the letters are the names of each and every student who sat in a desk at WL JR. HIGH during this year. Neat-o! To tease my 8th graders, I showed the cover for brief seconds at the end of each class and was greeted by very excited responses. Our only concern now, however, is making sure we've ordered enough yearbooks....I found out today that more yearbooks have been purchased this year than in most recent years past. We hand out the yearbooks on Friday.
All of last week my 8th graders were working on ABC books about their 8th grade year. We've mostly finished that assignment. Yesterday, they put their books together
by punching two holes on their paper and tying the book together with yarn. The paper punching seemed to be a messy job, ergo the picture of what looks like snowflakes on my floor. I did my best to instruct the students to punch the holes OVER the garbage can, but like most instructions, the 8th graders couldn't seem to follow. There were several books that turned out fabulous, and those that were a little less that desirable to look at. Now I'm up for the job of grading 140 books by Friday.

Today all of my classes participated in WL Drama Day. Essentially, I signed us up for this day because it meant one less day for me to plan something. The kids really enjoyed it. The Drama department (students with acting talents from a very wide range) put on several short plays. There were about 10 that they rotated through all day, some longer than others. Likewise, some were ok to see a few times, but some were a tad painful to watch. It was fun to see some silly boys dress up as old ladies and to see a bottle of Mt. Dew explode on the stage. I applaud these students, and their blessed adviser, for their hard work. Kudos!
I'm off to a meeting with the bishop tonight...along with my primary counselors. Then, tomorrow I'll be at school nearly until 10pm because it's awards night and I'm on the committee in charge. Thursday I have another primary meeting, this time with the whole stake, and on Friday...well, looks like my calendar on Friday looks empty. We had originally planned on taking down Ben's parent's motor home to Levan, a Memorial Day weekend tradition. They have been in Germany and were to return on Saturday. However, recent news states that they are coming home on Friday and may, in fact, be driving their own motor home down. We're not too jazzed about going if we no longer need to drive the motor home; I think we're both looking forward to a weekend with no plans or requirements. So. Basically. Because of this crazy weird schedule for the remainder of the week, this may be the last post until Monday. Ciao.

That's really a good looking yearbook cover. Tell them all from me(like they will care) that I think it looks very cool.
Wish I was going to be in Utah for memorial day, but will come later in the year.
Love ya
