This will most likely be my last post of 2007. What an odd feeling to know that this year is almost over.
My Christmas Break has been pretty good, except for the fact that I've been sick for most of it. It hasn't flown by as I thought it would and I feel rested and ready to head back to work on Wednesday. As I've thought about having my advisory students do, here is my essay on "How I spend my Christmas Break."
My dad came in from Las Vegas on Saturday. He took me, Zach, Hil, and Cassidy to dinner at Asian Star on Saturday night. It was yummy and after we went to play Guitar Hero at Zach's house. Cassidy is pretty dang good! She is a "princess rocker," since every time she plays she is also in dress ups. But don't let that sweet disposition fool you; this princess can wail on the guitar, especially to her favorite, "Rock it like a Hurricane."
Christmas Eve morning Ben and I went to our parents stake for their annual Christmas Eve devotional. This started at 7:30am. We've both gone since we were youth in that stake and it has continued to be a fun tradition for us. We went with dad Hubert and the brothers. After, we had breakfast at the 5th ward chapel.
I had loads of presents to wrap after the devotional and Ben went to help his brother load a Uhaul and finish his Christmas shopping. I wrapped...and wrapped...and wrapped until I finally finished. Ben made it home just as the big snow storm was starting to fall. We had to be at my mom's for dinner and we were driving in the thick of the storm.
As soon as we got to my moms, I felt a little (and unfortunately familiar) tickle in my throat. My ears also began to ache. We (me and Ben, Grandma, Dad, and Mom) ate a yummy dinner and opened some presents. My grandma and Ben and I got my mom a new digital camera, which she was uber excited about since her old-school film camera was on it's last leg.
My big ticket item from "Santa Mom," was a Cricut...a really fancy paper cutter for scrap booking and other crafts. It's the coolest thing; I've been playing with it all week. There are different cartridges that come with different fonts and things and you type in what you want it to say and it cuts it. It's a present that both me and mom can use for scrap booking and for things like cards, invitations, and tags.
After we opened presents, we all went to see "Sweeny Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street." I give the movie 3 stars: first, Johnny Depp is great as Sweeny Todd. Second, the music is fun (I bought myself the soundtrack the day after Christmas), and third, it's so unlike anything I've ever seen that it was a new experience. Of course, it's also kind of, no, really, gruesome and icky, but still enjoyable.
We got back to my mom's house and I was feeling achy and icky with the chills and muscle aches. Still my throat hurt and my ears were beginning to hurt worse. Ben and I went home, opened our new pajamas and I went straight to bed.
Christmas morning I woke Ben up at 9 and we opened presents. Santa brought Ben a new Cross pen, two ties (a Superman and Sea hawks), and some socks. Santa brought both of us an XBOX 360 and he brought me GUITAR HERO. I was so excited. I'm completely hooked on this game. Typically I'm not much of a video game player, but I play this all the time at my brother's house and Santa took note and got me one of my very own! Here I am just minutes after opening.
This is me being a Guitar Hero!
We spent the day at parent's Hubert. I felt awful most of the day: achy, sore throat, chills. By afternoon, I'd slept on and off most the day. We got some fun things from that side of the family: A real German Nutcracker, a chocolate fondue set, and a Wee Fairy Garden (from Jaren!) We left about 7 to go see my dad at Zach and Hil's. We only stayed for about an hour.
Wednesday: I was sleeping most of the day on the couch. Only drank OJ all day. Felt like crap. Took cold pills and slept some more. My sore throat felt like strep. I had a sneezy cold and achy muscles.
Thursday: Still feeling icky. Woke up feeling light-headed and dizzy. Sore throat going away, but still with the runny nose and ear aches. I forced myself to get in the shower, get dressed, and go shopping (crazy!) I was so light-headed from not eating anything since Tuesday, I fell over at Target. I finally ate something and felt loads better. Another new addition today: Ben bought another guitar for Guitar Hero so we can play together in a band and duel each other. We went to dinner and stayed up till 2 playing guitar.
Friday: Hung out with mom. Used the Cricut. Felt a tiny bit better. Starting to loose my voice.
Saturday: Hung out with mom. Used the Cricut. Felt drained and not 100%. Voice mostly gone. Went to dinner with Ben after he got off work and came home to play, you guessed it...Guitar Hero.
We were supposed to go to Wyoming this weekend to see Eric and Heather, but weather ruined our plans.
Sunday: Am currently playing hooky from church since I told my counselors I wouldn't be there today. Working on getting rid of a runny nose and welcoming the return of my voice.
New Year's Plans: Don't really have any. Mostly just hanging out with Ben and probably playing more Guitar Hero.
Here are a few more pictures:Last year, Zeus was the Christmas present. Here is his on Christmas morning last year.
Here's a picture of Zeus this year. He's a large dog. :)The annual picture taken in front of mom's Christmas tree.
Basically, I really wasn't into taking pictures because I felt icky. So, this is pretty much all I got.
Hope everyone had a good holiday and looks forward to a happy new year.

Guitar Hero is my guilty pleasure. :) I'm really working hard to get decent at medium, it's tough! I do hope you have some stickers on your guitar, it really does complete the effect. ALSO, I'm slightly jealous of your Cricut. I think it's the coolest thing ever! I hope you feel 100% before you have to go back to school and that you have a rockin' New Year's with lots of Martinelli's (preferrably the mini-bottles).
