vouchers

The senate passed the voucher bill.

Bleh. Don't even get me started.

It's not very common for me to post on Saturday, but I'm a slave to my computer today, working on our yearbook. We use a program on the internet so I am able to work on it at home. We have our first 22 pages due at the printing plan on Monday. I just barely developed some pictures I had the students take with disposable cameras and now am working at uploading them to the yearbook program. It's going kind of slow. The cool thing, however, is that at school I can only ever upload 3-5 pictures at a time but here at home, the connection must be better because I'm able to upload 10 at a time. After the pictures are uploaded, I will have to go through all of them and check to see that they are appropriate, label them, and see where the holes are in the book so far and plug them into the templates the students created. Technically, we have until Tuesday to submit the pages, but I'd like to have as much done by Monday so it's not so stressfull. We started printing off pages and "proofing" them for errors, but looks like they have done a good enough job in the first place.

Yesterday I had my English classes draw a story map for Night. I must have been speaking a foreign language because they didn't seem to understand my simple instructions, which went as follows: Take this peice of paper, draw five boxes, label each box with one of the headings (setting, characters, plot, problem, solution) and then put it in your folder when you're done. You don't even have to fill anything in; you're just creating your map. Yeah, that's all I said but I had several in each class who came up and showed me their story map which looked like the map of Europe--"But, Mrs. Hubert, you said a story map!" "But, dummy, I meant boxes, not fake countires!" Needless to say, I ran out of the special paper by 7th period because of all the mistakes and then 7th period was jipped and had to draw their boxes on a peice of white computer paper....oh the tragedy!

College week finally ended. I helped the lady in charge, Julie, grade the essays for the essay contest (all 10 of them) and helped determine the winner. Yesterday at our meetings she brought all the extra treats and drinks for the faculty, always a nice bonus, and so I filled myself up on Fritos and Cheetoes. I had to wash down the keys on my keyboard because I was eating while entering grades and made a bit of a mess!!!

Not much else to write today. Next week I have a sub for two days that I will be at a workshop. A short week for me!!!
