I heart Truman Capote.

I know that's insane, as he's an old, dead, homosexual author. But it's true.
I finished reading In Cold Blood a few weeks ago. If you haven't already, read my review of the book on my Book Blog, "Garden in your Pocket," (the link's on the left side).
I caved last week and rented "In Cold Blood," the old black and white movie. Wow. Again, wow. The guy that plays Perry, Robert Blake, was everything I dreamed Perry Smith was like. Eeery.
I also caved and rented "Capote," which I watched last night. I understand why Philip Seymour Hoffman won an award for his portrayal of this guy. It was a really interesting movie that helped me kind of wrap up (hopefully) my month-long obsession with Truman Capote.
I really think what intrigued me most about this guy is his almost thirst and hunger at writing 'the perfect book.' He loved the attention he got and ended up paying a lot for his success. He never wrote another book after In Cold Blood.
And he was friends with my #1 literary idol, Harper Lee.

I had a copy of In Cold Blood on my Ipod and watched it through the TV--although I haven't quite finished it yet...I've seen it so many times and every time I watch it, I can't help but think of what happened to Robert Blake in real life.
Did you know they filmed most of the scene in the murder house in the actual house?
And I think that he and Harper Lee were sort of distant cousins, but not sure about that.
