yearbook

This is me today after I received the yearbook. I'm super excited. Can ya tell? (I actually took this picture using the timer on my camera, standing in my bathroom). Here's a full front cover shot:And a full back cover shot:And in case you've forgotten: The theme of our yearbook is "Splash of Color," which has a few different connotations. First, this is the first year we have any color photos in our book, the first 16 pages. They turned out pretty sweet. Really bright. Second, our school is really colorful as in diversity, so we had some fun with things like "showing your true color."

Yearbook day is next Friday, the 30th. It's a crazy, crazy, crazy day, but the kids have a good time looking through the books and this year will be especially fun because we've been really building up the idea of the color pictures. Also, this is the first cover of a West Lake yearbook that hasn't been primarily black, which was a request I received from my staff and which I totally agreed with. The cover was designed by one of my staff members.

8 more days. Yippee. I can't believe it's already this close. I began cleaning my kitchen this afternoon and felt a little panicky at the thought of the rest of the school year...until I realized there isn't much left! My 8th graders are just finishing their 8th grade autobiography ABC books next week, which they've all done really well with working on. My 9th graders, on the other hand, have pretty much checked out of the whole school thing.

I'm SO glad for a 3 day weekend. We're not going anywhere, but it'll be nice to just be able to chill this weekend. I have a huge book to read for my book club...and I'm having a hard time really getting into it. I'm done with my homework. I still have to put together sharing time for Sunday. And other than that, I plan to be a lady of leisure this weekend.

I wanted to give a shout-out to a few people:
1. Two of my friends are having (or have had) babies this weekend; Quinn and Tammy--best of luck and congratulations!
2. Thanks dad for the awesome new music selection!!! I've totally wipped out my iPod and am currently reloading with all the great music you sent. Great!!!
3. My college roommate, Sheena, who had a birthday this week. I haven't spoken to her forever (probably almost a year) but I remembered and hope she had a good one!
4. Elder Hubert, who has been gone for one month today. Love and miss you.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Be safe!

Well that yearbook looks just great! I hope all the students love it --I love the color cover(say that twice).
Glad you liked all the music--I have about 10 more I should send you but will wait for a while.
I just got home from seeing Indiana Jones--very fun and just what one expects from that kind of movie. And I love that he looks older too.
Love ya
